Should you use Dietary Supplements during Cancer Treatment or not?

It can be a very good idea to take some dietary supplements if you are undergoing cancer treatment presently. Some doctors advise patients to hold off drugs while undergoing chemotherapy whereas some complement the use of dietary supplements like vitamin D, green tea, curcumin or the extracts of machines as they have some properties that can help them to fight against cancer and it can also reduce all sorts of side effects of the treatment. The research is still in progress and several points have been made clear.

The supplements that are used should not be used as a substitute for a standardised treatment of cancer. Patients are considered to be safe about the use of supplements. The doctors can also build more trust for communicating information about the dietary supplements and the patients can have an open and well-informed approach. According to studies, about 87% women who suffer from breast cancer take some dietary supplements. It has been seen that the patients take supplements of cancer without even telling their oncologists.

Major oncologists are strict and they advise people not to take any supplements during any active therapy. Many patients also read about the supplements online, the patients can know about all the supplements and they don’t really need any medical training. The biggest fear behind the supplements is the interference in the chemotherapy and it can also decrease the effectiveness and side drugs of the drugs. It even has capability to affect metabolism of the drugs.
